Additional Services
Complementing our in-house services we are pleased to offer the following through our comprehensive supplier base :
Primer Painting - a preparatory coating put on materials, mainly structural sections, before painting. Priming ensures better adhesion of paint to the surface, increases paint durability, and provides additional protection for the material being painted.
Shotblasting - the operation of cleaning or preparing a surface by forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against it, removing all contaminants such as rust and old paint.
Galvanizing - the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel in order to prevent it from rusting. The most common method is hot-dip galvanising where the steel is submerged in a bath of molten zinc.
Thermally Zinc Spraying - a process that applies molten zinc to a shot blasted base to give a protective finish. Often used as an alternative to galvanising where fabrications are too large or too intricate to be dipped or where warping or distortion could occur during the galvanising process. No holes are required for a dipping process.
Pickling and Oiling - the process of removing rust and scale and applying a thin layer of oil to protect the surface and guard against atmospheric corrosion.
Laser Cutting - typically used for industrial manufacturing applications and works by directing the output of a high-power laser, by computer, at the material to be cut. The material then either melts, burns, vaporizes away or is blown away by a jet of gas, leaving an edge with a high-quality surface finish.
Milling - the process of cutting away material by feeding a workpiece past a rotating multiple tooth cutter. The machined surface may be flat, angular or curved.
Turning - a machining operation that produces cylindrical parts.
Material Testing - determining the elemental constituents of a material to ascertain if it matches a required specification.
Powder Coating - a coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder and used when a durable finish is required, tougher than conventional wet paints. When the item is covered the object is put into the oven to be cured. Whilst in the oven, the powder goes through a chemical change where it becomes free flowing and forms a ‘skin’ around the object. After cooling, the powder is ‘set’ and forms a hard and durable long lasting finish.
